Our Story
Started because the basics kept going wrong
The Building Merchants Ltd was set up by people who had spent years on the buying side of construction in Greater Manchester — and had lost too many days to materials that were "on their way".
The idea was simple: run a merchant where stock information is accurate, delivery is controlled in-house, and the person you speak to can make a decision. No call centre, no escalation path, no guessing whether a pallet exists.
Today we supply builders, contractors, electricians, groundworkers, housebuilders, property developers, self-builders, renovators and facilities management firms from our depot at Unit 9, 13 Cheetwood Road, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, M8 8AQ — across bricks and blocks, cement and aggregates, timber and sheet materials, plasterboard and drylining, roofing and insulation, drainage and groundworks, electrical supplies and landscaping materials.
We serve DIY customers on exactly the same terms. If you're renovating your own house, you get the same specification advice as a contractor running three sites.
